First edition: from manuscript to book
This is the Gopher process
- You deliver the manuscript to us, by mail, email or in person (please let us know beforehand).
- We will acknowledge receipt.
- You will receive an assessment of your manuscript within two months. There will be four options:-
a. we will accept it for publication and publish under our Gopher logo after minor editing
b. if we feel that your manuscript fails to meets its full potential we will offer you a brief critique or advice on rewriting
c. you will be appraised that your book is best suited for publication under the Private Publishing Fund
d. your manuscript is rejected on grounds of quality or because it contains racist or pornographic elements.
- If we do accept your manuscript, we will send you two provisional publishing contracts, one of which should be returned to us signed.
- We will send you a bill for the agreed fee.
- After payment we agree on layout and design, and undertake in-house editing. We subsequently lay out the book and design the cover
- We will send you the initial text for proofing and correction.
- You will receive a laid out page-proof of the final book. This is for final correction only. No author alterations are accepted at this stage except by agreement and there might be an additional charge.
- Final corrections are made and the book is printed.
- The book is placed on our website. The entry comprises a short description of the content of the book, an image of the cover and a short biography and photograph of the author. It is also possible to hear a short reading which can be heard by customers with appropriate facilities.
- You will receive your author's copies.
- We will discuss and implement a marketing strategy and take care of publicity.
- We will take care of customer orders and despatch.
