Bob Dros (Texel, Holland, 1946)
Bob Dros grew up with music and aviation in the postwar years at the North Sea island of Texel, the Netherlands.
As a professional musician he mainly works during the night time (see www.barrelhouse.nl) .
After his study at the Free University of Amsterdam he decided to quit psychology and founded Bel Air Models in 1986: a business which manufactures exclusive, often unusual types of aircraft out of plexiglas (updated catalogue at www.bel-air-models.com ).
This kept him busy during the day time.
To exercise his profession well he built up his knowledge quickly by collecting relevant material. The book ``The Wright Flyers`` follows from this directly. Prompted by his interest in colour schemes of early aircraft types he gathered his many 20th century coloured aircraft pictures, covering a multitude of types of all kinds, drawn and painted long before the introduction of the colour photograph.
Dros` original plan was to write a book around this collection. From his decision to publish the ``isolated`` Wright Flyers follows that more publications of the same kind about aviation pioneers or aircraft types may appear in the next future. Stay tuned!
